The autumn programme is here
From Queen Christina and royal wardrobes to guided city walks, drawing classes, and new perspectives on Uppsala. Autumn 2026 invites you to explore history, discover new things, and hear the stories of the people, places, and events that have shaped Uppsala. Tickets are now on sale – book your place in this autumn’s programme.

The major exhibition this autumn is Views of Uppsala, offering the chance to experience the city through the eyes of artists. The exhibition brings together both classic depictions of Uppsala and works by contemporary artists, telling the story of the city’s transformation from a small town into a modern university city. It also features entries from the photography competition Your View of Uppsala, in which local residents share their own perspectives on the city’s most iconic skyline.
In 2026, it will be 400 years since Queen Christina was born. The anniversary year is reflected in several parts of this autumn’s programme. Historian Erik Petersson explores her dramatic life, from heir to the throne to abdicated queen and one of Europe’s most talked-about figures. Textile historian Julia Holm takes a closer look at another side of Christina, exploring her clothes and style, as well as how she has been portrayed throughout history. Visitors can also join guided city walks focusing on Queen Christina and Catherine Jagiellon and their connections to Uppsala. The anniversary will also be marked with a concert featuring music from Christina’s time, bringing the sounds of the Renaissance and Baroque to life and evoking the world that surrounded the queen.
History also takes centre stage through talks, guided tours and walks exploring the people and environments of the castle. Join artist Anders Ståhl on a drawing walk through Uppsala’s historic quarters, discover the stories behind the castle gardens, or take a deeper look at Views of Uppsala during a guided tour followed by dinner and conversation.
Every Thursday, the museum hosts History Night, when it stays open in the evening with talks, guided tours and opportunities to delve deeper into history. At the same time, Art Night takes place at Uppsala Art Museum, filling the entire castle with history, art, music, conversation and encounters.
Several popular favourites are also returning, including guided city walks, guided tours, family activities, and holiday programmes for children and young people.
