Views of Uppsala
Experience Uppsala through the eyes and palettes of artists – from Gusten Widerbäck’s timeless views to contemporary interpretations of our city and its surrounding plain. Through paintings, photographs, postcards and newly taken images, we experience both the Uppsala of today and the city of the past.

Uppsala’s iconic skyline, with the castle, cathedral and university buildings, has become a powerful symbol of the city. These buildings represent the centres of power that have shaped Uppsala throughout history – the Church, the Crown and, later, the University.
The exhibition features art from the 19th century to the present day, tracing Uppsala’s transformation from a small town surrounded by meadows and fields into a modern city.
Amateur photographers’ views of the city
As part of the exhibition, we have also launched a photography competition inviting amateur photographers to share their personal interpretations of Uppsala’s skyline. It is a unique opportunity to have your work displayed as part of a larger exhibition.
What you will see

- A unique collection of postcards and historical images of Uppsala.
- Photographs submitted by local residents as part of Your View of Uppsala.
- In our workshop, you can create your own views of the city and submit your work to the exhibition.
The exhibition is presented in collaboration with Uppsala Art Museum.
